  • Can I bring my own tackle and rods:

Yes of course! I would however call before and let me know what you plan on bringing. This way I can steer you in the right direction. We use a wide variety of gear on the lake depending on how its fishing at the time.

  • When is the best time of year to come:

Lake St Clair has outstanding smallmouth fishing from May-October however the weather is much more predictable from June-September. May can bring trophy size fish but runs a higher chance of bad weather, while early June offers great numbers with much more stable weather. July and August offer great weather with a better average size fish.

  • What type of fishing will we be doing:

St Clair is a very diverse fishery and depending on the time of year we will employ a variety of techniques and baits. From early season jigs and crankbaits, to explosive topwater fishing around the mayfly hatch, and deeper water finesse fishing with dropshots, ned rigs, and tubes come summer

  • How many people can we bring:

2-3 Adults can comfortably fish on my Phoenix 921 and children are welcome. Please inquire for info

  • Where do we meet:

LAKE ST CLAIR- We typically will launch out of the St. Clair Shores area but depending on the time of year and conditions this could change. I will keep in touch as your trip approaches to let you know exactly which launch we will use.

HEADWATERS LAKE- We will either meet directly at the Headwaters boat ramp or in the town of Fellsmere 5 minutes away. I will provide an exact location the day before our trip

St Lawrence River- We will meet anywhere from Cape Vincent to Chippewa Bay depending on the conditions and time of year. I will provide an exact location the day before your trip.

Trips range from 4 to 8 hours depending on your booking. I will however do my best to make your day memorable.

  • Does your guide fish:

I usually only fish when you request me to or I am helping guide you in a new technique. Other times Ill fish to try other baits and techniques to see what they’re biting. I spend most of the time running the trolling motor with a remote and reading my Lowrance electronics to keep you around fish!

  • Do we need a Fishing license:

Yes. You will require a Michigan and/or Canadian Fishing License and I will advise you before exactly which you will need based on our fishing location.

  • Can we keep our catch:

For Smallmouth bass I practice catch and release only, however if you happen to catch a tasty walleye and have the means to clean them yourself then you are welcome to keep them
